Nous accusons: Mainstream media fails to report context and severity of Israeli atrocities against Gaza

This is a short media statement we (the Gaza Eight) felt we had to publish on the recent failure of the corporate media to report on Gaza. You can see the published statement also here: http://mondoweiss.net/2012/11/nous-accusons-mainstream-media-fails-to-report-context-and-severity-of-israeli-atrocities-against-gaza.htmlhttp://rabble.ca/news/2012/11/nous-accusons-mainstream-media-fails-report-atrocities-gaza…

Noam Chomsky: Impressions of Gaza

Even a single night in jail is enough to give a taste of what it means to be under the total control of some external force.  And it hardly takes more than a day in Gaza to begin to appreciate what it must be like to try to survive in…

5 days in Gaza, epiloge: 4 killed, 9 wounded, countless terrified

This is a report on the Isreali attacks in the Gaza strip. Keep in mind that the report does not include October 24th, the day of the airstrikes. I still don't have any final report on the casualties that day... Israeli attacks in the Gaza…

5 days in Gaza, days 6+7: We’re stuck and under attack!

Tuesday October 23 This morning some of us are supposed to leave Gaza. David and Stephanie are going to stay on for another two weeks, which makes us all jealous, and Antoine and Maire have decided to get the most out of their trip and delay…

5 days in Gaza, day 5: Just another day in Gaza

Monday October 22 This is our last day in Gaza, and the only one with no official appointments on the agenda. Noam Chomsky and Assaf have left in the morning and are on their way back to Cairo, where Chomsky has – today, after at least…

5 days in Gaza, day 4: Center for families of detainees

Sunday October 21 This is our fourth day in Gaza and the second day of the linguistics conference. The day starts with what has become my new favorite ritual: breakfast with Chomsky. It’s one of the few moments we have of peace and quiet…

5 days in Gaza, day 3: linguistic conference and arrival of the Estelle

Saturday, October 20 Our conference on linguistics at the Islamic University of Gaza starts today, Saturday, the first day of the week. We have an early breakfast and are once more taken to the university by Muneer, our nice driver from the…

5 days in Gaza, day 2: Khan Younis and the refugee camp

Friday, October 19 This is part two of my Gaza blog. I am writing this out of a hotel lobby in Cairo. I find I have some holes in my memory, but I hope you’ll find the report interesting anyway. After a quiet but way too short night,…

5 Days in Gaza Part 1: GREETINGS FROM GAZA

Thursday, October 18 This is the first part of what I hope is going to become a short series of blogs about what I can safely say is the most extraordinary journey I have done in my life so far. As a very short summary on how this all came…

Man-Made Climate Change 2: The Hockey Stick and the Attack on Climate Science

After my last blog on the scientific method, I’d like to write today about the ongoing attempt by vested interest to discredit climate change and carbon emission. Using the example of the “hockey stick” graph, I will try to…

Man-Made Climate Change - Fact or Theory?

Part 1: Why should we trust in science? There is an ongoing controversy in the public sphere – and even within the IOPS community – on whether or not climate change is real. And as much as I appreciate the principle of IOPS to respect…
