Hi all- I thought it might be nice to do another check in. This time about how everything is going but I am also wondering if our australian comrades want to tell us how its going down there with the heat and things. Other situations obviously also welcome. And please forgive the propaganda picture- I forgot it had a logo til I loaded it!

Deplorable.   Mrs Clinton cast too widely, be it a basket or a net. However her general sentiment was right. The election of Trump was the latest entry to the list of American deplorables, following from Iraq, Reaganomics, Vietnam, Jim Crow, slavery, the genocide of indigenous people--to name just a few whoppers.   But while past deplorables were typically enacted by agents of the state, Trump's election is a failure of the people. The future of IOPS is being discused a lot at the moment. I've been one of the core organisers of the London chapter (I think this is one of only two active chapters if I'm correct?). It feels like we are going strong in London, so I thought I'd give some input.  I'd like to answer this question by looking at the original idea of IOPS. My understanding is that the core original idea of IOPS was to form a website whch would help revolutionaries in different countries and towns, meet up, form…

The pigs I am referring to are the pigs of George Orwell’s Animal Farm: the Communists. The animals that think they are ‘more equal’ than others. As a ‘pig’ myself, this is not an argument against pigs. IOPS London members at the September 2014 meeting (which I didn't attend) asked the question "What is IOPS London and what do YOU want it to be?". It was decided that we'd discuss this question at today's meeting.   So, I started scribbling down my thoughts to organise my ideas for discussion at today's meeting. I started linking it to the IOPS Mission and Vision statements. And, I thought I'd share my scribbles in case they're helpful/useful to others:   A pre-figurative space (IOPS Mission…

On the 4th and 5th of September, NATO will come to Wales for what is said to be “the largest gathering of international leaders ever to take place in Britain”. Attendees will include President Obama, Chancellor Merkel, and President Hollande, who “are expected to attend along with leaders and senior ministers from around 60 other countries.” They will not be the only ones with an interest in the events in Newport and Cardiff.  Thousands of anti-NATO activists will also…
