      oh, i love WIZO

what, you think i'm not fluent in German?!! well, i'm NOT!!

hey, for the record.. NOFX was pretty damn good live. only saw them once, somewhere around the millennium switch, playing at The Showbox, an old Seattle venue. ok, funny story..

i procrastinated on buying tickets and they were sold out, so i had planned on hanging around out front to try to buy a ticket off whoever might have one to part with. i had spent the afternoon with my girlfriend and her mom on an "art-walk".. a bunch of art galleries holding a linked event that weekend. took advantage of the free glass of wine at each one, and eventually said my goodbyes, headed to the venue. no one offering tickets, so i took a walk to maybe check back later, and found myself in Pioneer Square, old area of the city.

somewhere in my wandering around, some girl approached me, and said she knew me. she definitely knew a couple people i knew, but i honestly had no idea who she was. i introduced her to grabbing a drink at Klondike Sam's, no longer in existence. it was actually just a mini-mart/convenience-store, but with a few tables you could sit at to eat deli-sandwiches. next to the entrance for the Seattle Underground Tour. they would allow you to buy bottled beer and drink it at the tables as well, including 22 or 40 ounce bottles of malt liquor. not normal at all here. and at direct store prices, not bar prices!

actually, they also had an upstairs seating area.. where i used to sit in on some meetings with Mexican gangsters dealing in coke n crack (years prior). briefcases and gigantic 90's cellphones. i didn't understand what they were saying either, but i knew this kid GG (and his "muscle" who went by Cisco) a lower-tier dealer/runner that vouched for my presence. not that i was dealing or using. ok, stories there too but..

the girl.. told me a friend of hers had broken into the Showbox from the roof, that there was some kind of way to get into the space between the rafters and ceiling. well, after saying my goodbyes there i headed back to the Showbox. still no one with tickets outside. so, on to this other prospect.

from the alley i moved a dumpster under the fire-escape ladder and climbed to the roof. there, i did find a crawlspace sized door with a lock, but just attached by hinges. i was able to unscrew one with a coin, lol, and enter. inside there were wooden planks to crawl along, using my lighter to see. i was right above the stage at some point as an opening band was playing. not sure, but if i fell off the planks, i might have fell right through the ceiling. but then i saw some light ahead to move toward. there was a cutaway in the side of a wall just enough to get my body through easily, which would drop me down into the hallway in the backstage area. i waited so no one was passing by and popped down hoping my timing would hold and not get seen. and sure enough i walked out into the crowd and found my friends! saw NOFX shortly after.

      PUNK ROCK MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
